Despite decades of efforts, the progenitor systems of Type Ia Superovae (SNe) have not been identified yet. This is mostly due to the difficulty of studying distant extragalactic SNe in detail. I will present recent results from the study of Supernova Remnants (SNRs) in nearby galaxies and the resolved stellar populations that surround them, which shed light onto this longstanding problem.
