We propose a simple classical model for the damped, magnetic dipole oscillator based on a circuit analogy. The solution for the dynamical equation of the associated magnetic moment is found to be similar in form to the well-known solution for the damped, electric dipole oscillator, but with the magnetic vector of the incident electromagnetic wave as the forcing field, instead of the electric vector. This model has been successfully applied to a classical derivation of the polarization properties of the forbidden (M1) coronal emission lines.
