A chemical model is proposed for Comet Halley that consists of a solid core, an outer mantle, and a gas-dust cloud. The solid core is composed of the simplest hydrides of C, N, and S; the main part of the mantle is composed of complex compounds of Mg and Si in mixtures with hydrocarbons, and the dust cloud contains particles of the core and mantle as well as the products of their evolution.
