A nonperturbative analysis of the Einstein-Maxwell equations is presented. An exact solution is found which represents a charged black hole, with mass and charge being equal, and an infinite cosmic string in equilibrium. Though the desired spacetime is determined to not be asymptotically Markowskian, the curvature tensor vanishes asymptotically at large distances from the cosmic string.
