We present the results from simultaneous Chandra and RXTE observations of the X-ray bright Broad-Line Radio Galaxy 3C 382. The long (120ks) exposure with Chandra HETG allows a detailed study of the Fe Kalpha line, whereas the PCA data are used to constrain the broad-band continuum. The fact that the exposure is split into 2 observations taken 3 days apart allows one to investigate the spectral and temporal evolution of the source. A narrow Fe line is clearly detectedby HETG only during the second observation when the continuum is lower. The count rate decreases by more than 10% between the 2 observations while the spectrum hardens. We combine analysis of high quality HETG spectra with spectral and temporal variability studies with the final aim of discriminating among competing models proposed for radio-loud AGN and shedding some light on the structure of the accretion flow in this class of AGN.Support from NASA LTSA grant NAG5-10708 is acknowledged.
