A catalogue of 11,438 stars in the field of M31 is presented based on Tautenburg Schmidt plates taken by van den Bergh. The range of visual magnitudes of stars in the catalogue is 11.5 < V < 20. The completeness limits of the catalogue are: ≡18.0 mag in U, ≡19.2 mag in B, ≡18.8 mag in V and ≡17.8 mag in R. Subsets of bright stars (V ≤ 14 mag), blue stars (B-V ≤ 0.4 mag) and red stars (B-V ≥ 1.5 mag) are listed. The question which stars are members of M31 is briefly discussed.
