Scientific paper

Coordinates and finding charts of optical supernova remnant candidates in the nearby galaxies M 31, NGC 253, NGC 300, IC 1613, IC 342, M 33, NGC 2403 and NGC 6822 are presented.
The candidates were detected mainly by comparing photographs of the galaxies in Hα and | S II | light and sorting out emission nebulae with a low Hα/| S II | line intensity ratio.
Plates for this work were obtained with the Asiago 1.82 m telescope, the 48 Schmidt of Hale Observatories and the UK 48" Schmidt telescope at Siding Spring.
