A catalogue of expansion motions in 165 planetary nebulae is presented. The results strengthen the suggestion by Grieg (1971, 1972) indicating that planetary nebulae (PN) can be divided into two wide sub-classes. The first group (labeled C) includes PN ejected and excited by post asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars having a final mass close to 0.60 M_sun;. These nebulae have a nebular mass of about 0.20 M_sun; and spend most of their life in a thin status. The second group (labeled B) includes PN whose central stars are more massive than 0.60 M_sun; (up to about 0.80 M_sun;); B nebulae are more massive than C nebulae (nebular masses from about 0.3 M_sun; up to about 1.0 M_sun;) and spend most of their life in a thick status. The two sub-classes have different morphological and kinematical properties, different mean chemical composition and, very likely, represent the final evolution of stars of quite different initial mass.
