The central star of the extended planetary nebula HFG 1 is studied. It is shown that some of the optical characteristics of the central star resemble those of an extreme member of the long-period intermediate polar class of magnetic cataclysmic binaries. However, in the present spectrum, the He II 468.6 emission appears very faint while C III and N III dominate.
