An analysis of the radio spectrum of the quasar PHL 61 obtained by Takahara et al. (1983) permits to reveal the presence of a probable absorption feature at the frequency ν = 39.317 GHz. Its width is 5.2 MHz and the corresponding optical depth is 0.15. The authors suggest two possible identifications of the feature as the rotational line J = 0→1 of the 12C16O molecule at the redshift za(12C16O) = 1.9318 or the 12C17O molecule at za(12C17O) = 1.8578. The possibility of the identification of this absorption feature with hyperfine lines in K = 0→1 transition of CN at za(CN) = 1.8784 is also discussed. Some tests for the proposed identifications are considered.
