We observed an active starforming region L1641-N in the Orion A giant molecular cloud with ESA's X-ray astronomical observatory XMM-Newton for 47 ks. We detected 174 X-ray sources within the 30' diameter field-of-view of XMM-Newton. A bright X-ray flare was observed from an emission line star V988 Ori with Halpha EW of 4.8 Å during the observation.
