The galaxy population of the cluster associated with the quasar PKS 0812 + 02 at z = 0.403 differs from other known clusters at similar redshift. In this cluster, the blue-to-red population ratio is larger than 1, whereas it is usually smaller than 0.5 (even in clusters where an excess of blue galaxies compared with nearby clusters has been observed). This extreme case of the Butcher-Oemler effect is partly due to missing bright red galaxies which are found in other cluster cores. A scheme of differential evolution where dynamical evolution of clusters is a major parameter is proposed.
