Scientific paper

Rapidly scintillating X-ray emissions in Cygnus X-1 have given rise to speculation that a rotating neutron star may be ionizing an accretion disk in the area and producing X-ray flux. Observations of the flux would indicate a neutron star mass equivalent to 3 solar masses, and a period of rotation for the accretion disk of 5.6 days. Attention is given to Schwarzchild radiation from the accretion disk, and fluctuations in X-ray radiation in its vicinity.
