We present a 48 square degree sub-mm survey in Vela by the Balloon-borne Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope (BLAST) from its 2006 flight from Antarctica. BLAST has a 1.9 metre diameter aperture and three detector arrays which simultaneously sample the sky at 250, 350, and 500 microns. In this survey, with a diffraction limited resolution of 40 arc seconds at 350 microns, we have detected several hundred cold cores with temperatures below 20K. The BLAST bands are located to allow the peak of the modified black body spectrum to be determined, and temperatures and masses inferred. In addition to these cold cores, the BLAST maps provide images of the complex filamentary structure of the interstellar medium.
