A radio survey of the area centered on the giant radio galaxy DA 240 has been performed at 232 MHz with an aperture synthesis telescope consisting of 28 paraboloids with 9-meter diameters distributed on an EW baseline of 1.164 km. The thermal electron densities within the extended lobes and the eastern hotspot are shown to be very low (less than 0.00002/cu cm). It is suggested that DA 240 may be located in a large-scale hole with very low mass density. A software package was developed for data analysis and image processing, including the elimination of interferences and corrections of zero-point offset and phase distortions caused by the ionosphere. A self-calibration technique of one-dimensional brightness distribution correlation has been devised successfully for the instantaneous correction of ionospheric refraction. A map of the whole area has been obtained and more than one hundred sources with flux density greater than 0.22 Jy have been listed.
