We request 170 hours in order to complete a 13CO(J=1-0) survey of the molecular gas in the massive star-forming region Ara OB1. Low resolution observations reveal that the molecular gas in Ara OB1 extends in a long, thin filament away from an active star-forming region. Previous authors have identified a local expanding HI shell, suggesting that molecular cloud and/or star formation in Ara OB1 may have a dynamical trigger. This project is part of a larger study for the PI's PhD to investigate the relationship between the atomic and molecular gas phases across a range of interstellar environments.
