Recent observations of the X-ray burst source 4U 1820-30 have revealed a 685 s modulation of the luminosity. The author discusses how this system could provide a stringent test of the nonsymmetric gravitational theory (NGT) of Moffat, provided the observed periodicity is due to orbital motion of a binary system. The possible orbital period change predicted by general relativity may be detectable in this system.
