We will report on the SPI performance evolution during 4
years in-obrbit. In particular we will show how the design
of the instrument and specific instrument operation allow
to keep exceptional spectroscopic performance of 19 kg of
germanium cooled at 85 K. Energy resolution evolution, gain stability,
thermal control will be discussed.
An overview of the scientific results obtained will be presented.
