In order to understand our own origins we need to understand how the elements which make up our planet and our own bodies are created and distributed throughout the Galaxy. This necessitate the development of more accurate models of the supernova driven galactic outflows which so greatly influence the physical and chemical evolution of their host galaxies.
In the last few months we have begun using a 16 processor Linux cluster at Coastal Carolina to run 3D simulations of starburst galaxies using a parallel version of the hydrodynamics code VH-1. These and future simulation will serve as input to tools developed by David Strickland at Johns Hopkins to generate artificial X-ray/OVI/H-alpha images. These artificial images will be compared with real observations with a goal of creating more refined and accurate models. Results of simulations to date will be presented.
