The 3C 303 radio source is one of the most clearly defined and "regular" jets yet discovered in a radio-galaxy system. It reveals a repeating pattern of polarization variation over three nearly identical knots in the jet. The apparent intersection of the jet with a diffuse patch of optical emission at the point where a transverse radio lobe connects to the jet suggests that the jet is striking a region of enhanced extragalactic density. Energy appears to be "tapped" from the jet at this point to produce the strong radio lobe.
