A near-infrared spectrophotometric observation of bright IRAS galaxies, M82, NGC 4102, NGC 4194, and NGC 4536, has been made to study the relation between the 3.3 micron emission feature and star formation activity. The extinction-corrected intensity ratios of 3.3 micron feature to Br-gamma are nearly constant, 10-17, which shows that the 3.3 micron feature intensity could be used as a quantitative indicator for star formation activity in galaxies undergoing active star formation.
