We report 3 - 14 micron spectroscopy of the comet on Jan 31.62 and Feb 1.7 2001 UT (delta 1.29 AU, r = 1.40 AU) using BASS on the IRTF. The spectrum showed a silicate emission feature extending about 10 prominent emission features at 10.4 microns and 11.2 microns appeared above the silicate band, the latter seemingly indicative of crystalline olivine. The 8-13 micron color temperature was 260 +/- 10 K., approximately 11 black body radiative equilibrium temperature of 235 K. Brightness at [N] was 3+/- 0.1. On the second night, the two prominent emission features were absent, although the silicate emission feature maintained it's trapezoidal shape with breaks at 9.5 and 11.2 microns. The authors were visiting astronomers at NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility operated by the Univeristy of Hawaii.
