A region 17 m in diameter at the center of the Parkes 64-m radio telescope was recently resurfaced to improve its efficiency at high frequencies. Calibration of the 17-m surface is discussed, and results are presented for observations of four continuum sources and ten water-vapor masers at 22 GHz using this section of the telescope. Improved position measurements are reported for the maser sources, and it is noted that four of these sources are newly discovered. It is concluded that the new dish surface appears to be good enough to permit operation probably to at least 50 GHz, the improved efficiency near 22 GHz will facilitate observations of extended molecular sources of low surface brightness, and the flux-density/antenna-temperature ratio of the resurfaced section is approximately 10 Jy/K.
