Spectroscopic observations are reported for the blue stellar object associated with the low-galactic-latitude (4.3 deg) variable radio source 2005+403. A sky-subtracted renormalized spectrum of the object over the wavelength range from 3300 to 6500 A is presented, and it is shown that the object is clearly a quasar with an emission redshift of 1.736. An estimate of the continuum reddening due to galactic obscuration yields a value of about 3.5 magnitudes for the extinction in B.
