Several BAA observers managed to image the unusually bright and fast-moving Near Earth Object (NEO) 2000 QW7 in the last few nights of August. Discovered on 2000 August 26 by the 1.2 metre NEAT sky-survey telescope on Maui, Hawaii, the asteroid has a diameter of between 0.5 and 1km, surprisingly large for a newly-discovered object. It approached the Earth to within about 3 million miles (0.032AU) on 2 September. When these images were taken it was around mag 13.5 to 13.8, travelling at almost 1000 arcseconds per hour due east in Aquarius.
