A review of the major SETI programs is presented, including (1) Project Ozma II, which examined approximately 700 stars out to a distance of 20 parsecs with the main sequence stars of class F5 to K5 as prime targets; (2) the All-Sky Survey, which examines the entire sky accessible to the telescope (-36 deg to +63 deg declination) at the 21 cm hydrogen wavelength; (3) a Canadian SETI program; and (4) a SETI project taking place in Puerto Rico. The Soviet SETI proposal, extending to the year 1990 and including the study of the stars in the sun's vicinity, nearby galaxies in our cluster, and an all-sky survey, is outlined along with the remarks of Shklovsky, the leading Soviet SETI theorist.
