High-resolution observations of seven 3C quasars and 12 3C radio galaxies have been obtained using MERLIN at 151 MHz and the VLA at 1.5 GHz. Complete bridges were detected in 15 sources and extended tails to the hotspots in the other four. As at higher frequencies, the spectra of bridges are found to steepen away from the hotspots (with the spectral index rising to 1.4-2.0 at the center) between emitted frequencies of 0.3 and 3 GHz. Bridges in quasars are shown to be stubbier and more distorted than those in radio galaxies with similar powers, indicating that the long-term stability of the collimation may be poorer in quasars than in radio galaxies. Low-frequency flattening is noted in the hotspot spectra of three of the objects, possibly due to a departure from a power law of the electron-energy distribution at low energy.
