A new highly variable (in both the radio and optical domains) extragalactic object has been found 14.4 arcmin from the known BL Lac object 1308 + 326. Its radio spectrum peaks at about 20-40 GHz, and is strongly self-absorbed at lower frequencies. In fact, the source is very compact, with an angular size of less than 0.03 arcsec. Its optical counterpart is stellar, and varies in the range 3-3.5 mag. A low- resolution optical spectrum shows emission lines, and suggests a quasar with a redshift of about 1.65.
