A photoelectric emission line scanner, employing a pressure-scanning Fabry-Perot elation was developed and constructed at the European Southern Observatory in Chile. A description of the various components of the instrument is given. The data system consists of a MHz counter connected to a printer and combined with a small computer. The initial observing programs were concerned with the H alpha emission line, and the cluster-H 11 region IC 2944 was studied as well as 28 southern planetary nebulae.
