Time variability has long been used as a tool to constrain the physical conditions inside the central engines in AGN. The use of rapid variability and emission-line time delays (echoes) have been particularly powerful probes of the size of the AGN because they are relatively model independent. However, UV/optical light curves of AGN are poorly sampled and of short duration, and this has an important consequence --- the traditional cross--correlation function (CCF) is heavily biased towards underestimating the lag. We present this and other results of our time series study of AGN variability.
