We present preliminary results from our Brgamma , H2 1--0 S(1) and broad-band JHK imaging of Seyfert (SY) and starburst (SB) galaxies, recently obtained at the UKIRT 3.8m and ESO 2.2 m telescopes. We combine our new data with both published studies of individual objects and with [Fe II] 1.644 mu m, radio continuum, optical spectroscopic and X-ray observations, and investigate differences in the circumnuclear morphology between SY and SB galaxies and between SYs of type 1 and 2. Specifically, it is not clear what the relationship is between 1) star formation regions 2) molecular tori and 3) nuclear outflows or jets and whether the star forming rates and locations of star forming regions are different between SB and SY galaxies. We interpret the observations with evolutionary starburst models.
