A thermal analysis is carried out for the dust-detector-experiment of the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg on board the NASA Jupiter spacecraft Galileo. The essential object of this analysis was keeping the predetermined temperature limits for the sensor electronic near Jupiter. This was achieved by passive temperature control by means of constructive measures and selection of materials as well as by means of active temperature control with lowest possible additional heating. The computation was carried out by means of a nodal model, whereby heat conduction and radiation exchange as well as additional radiation from earth, sun and the planet Jupiter had to be taken into consideration.
