We have imaged a 0.7 deg(2) region of the Rosette Molecular Cloud (RMC) in the near-infrared broadband filters J, H, & K at a resolution of 1farcs 36 per pixel. Previously published results (Phelps & Lada 1997) included seven embedded near-infrared clusters; all of which are associated with IRAS point sources and molecular gas clumps traced by (13) CO. However, five IRAS point sources (and the associated (13) CO clumps) appear to contain no embedded clusters. We have used the near-infrared extinction of background sources to trace the line of sight dust extinction of the RMC, and we present preliminary results concerning the distribution of the dust throughout the cloud, and specifically near the cluster-free cores. Finally, based upon the technique outlined by Kenyon, Lada, & Barsony (1998), we present a determination of the near-infrared extinction law in the RMC.
