The structures of quasar 3C 196 and radio galaxy 3C 280 are investigated by the scintillation technique with the URAN-1 interferometer. The effective angular sizes of the scintillating components in 3C 196 are estimated at 2.0 + or - 1.5 arcsec, and 18 x 25 arcsec, with the compact features contributing 0.46 + or - 0.20 of the total flux. In 3C 280, the effective angular size of the component is 1.5 + or 1.2 arcsec, the extended region measures greater than 10 arcsec, and the compact feature contributes 0.35 + or - 0.20 of the total flux.
