The paper examines the derivation and certain properties of a system of integrodifferential equations describing large-scale motions in a planetary atmosphere. Principles of conservation of mass and energy are established for the equations, and a particular linearized case (i.e., Blinova's linearized solenoid model of the middle troposphere of the earth) is discussed.
