In a quest to find early-A type stars in open clusters, which are on or approaching the zero-age main sequence (ZAMS), we have obtained Stromgren photometry of central fields in h Persei (65 square arcmin) and chi Persei (36 square arcmin). This photometry has an accuracy of between 0.01 to 0.02 mag, and it reaches to a y magnitude of at least 18. We have also obtained MK classification dispersion spectra of 19 stars, 10 of which were selected on the basis of their V and B-V photometry, and 9 of which are serendipitous additional observations. Of the 10 selected stars, all except one proved to have spectral types consistent with proximity to the ZAMS, so we conclude that Wildey's (1964) reddening isocrypts are about correct.
