Emission lines that trace elements subject to strong depletion onto grains provide a means for probing the dust content of AGNs. Infrared [Fe ii] features are of potential use for this purpose, but have inspired considerable controversy in the past. We will examine the use of optical [Ca ii] emission as an alternative diagnostic that can be compared with the [Fe ii] results. Preliminary findings for NGC 1068 will be presented.
