We propose astrometric observations with HST/FGS in Position Mode to confirm the recent radial velocity detection of an extra-solar planet around the M4 dwarf Gliese 876, by a totally independent method, and to determine the actual mass of the planet with out the unknown 1/sini factor of the radial velocity methods. This will be the first extra-solar planet whose mass is actually determined from first principles.
