A supernova remnant has been discovered in the Perseus arm using the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope at 0.610 GHz. It has a well-defined shell structure with a diameter of 24 arcmin and contains unresolved regions of emission; it has also been seen independently as an extended X-ray source. Exposures with the 1.2 m Schmidt telescope in the light of forbidden S II and H-alpha show the high forbidden S II/H-alpha ratio that is diagnostic of supernova remnants. Its distance is estimated at 4.7 kpc and its age at 17,000 yr. Various other parameters are derived. If the nearest known pulsar, PSR 2255 + 58, is associated, it would need to have the large mean transverse speed of 2800 km/s.
