It is shown that dusty clouds that evaporate into a hot ambient medium may, under certain astrophysical conditions, be important sources of infrared radiation. The infrared radiation is emitted by collisionally heated dust grains that are present in the evaporate flow. The resulting enhancement in the cooling rate of the intercloud gas may have an important effect on the evolution of young supernova remnants.
