A general dispersion equation describing the characteristics of nonaxisymmetric disturbances in a inhomogeneous differential rotating thin gaseous disk with arbitrary equation of state is derived. The stability limit of the accretion disk is determined for the two cases of Pg much less than Pr and Pg much greater than Pr, where Pg is the gas pressure and Pr is the radiation pressure. Conditions for the excitation of gradient-entropy instability in different accretion-disk models are clarified.
