A numerical method is presented for constructing action-angle tori for a general gravitational system. The method employs a generating function to map between the action-angle coordinates for a known potential and the action-angle coordinates of the system under investigation. This has significant advantages over previous solutions to this problem. In particular, the algorithm invariably coverges smoothly. The method is demonstrated by constructing the tori of eccentric orbits in spherical and axisymmetric potentials.
