Attention is given to a theory of the propagation and absorption of magnetoatmospheric waves in the isothermal atmosphere with a horizontal magnetic field. The exact analytic solution of the MHD equations is found for the general case of the arbitrary direction of wave propagation with respect to the magnetic field. Exact formulas are derived for wave reflection and absorption in the presence of two resonance levels (Alfven and cusp resonances) in the atmosphere. The absorption of solar 5-minute oscillations is investigated.
