The evolutionary status of the bipolar planetary nebula He 2-104, surrounding a symbiotic binary, is examined. Numerical simulation shows that the bipolar morphology of this nebula is a consequence of the dynamic interactioon of the fast wind of the hot compact component with matter ejected by the cold giant component. It is suggested that the formation of bipolar gas envelopes around symbiotic binaries may be recurrent if the accretion of matter by the hot dwarf has a recurrent character, due, for example, to hydrogen burning instabilities.
