Results from radio studies and investigations of wide-band electromagnetic radiation are reviewed, focusing on the processes of energization and electron transport during solar flares. Observations of cm- to m-wave emission before and during the impulsive phase of flares are discussed. Consideration is given to flare development, radio spikes during impulsive flares, and the microwave and hard X-ray diagnostics of energetic electrons during impulsive flares.
