Observations at 21 cm of atomic H in the anticenter show that a stream of very high velocity clouds has reached the outer Galaxy and it is interacting with matter associated with the Milky Way. High-resolution observations of the leading edge of the infalling stream of high-velocity clouds reveal shock structures that are indicative of the physical interaction in the gas over a velocity range of 250 km/s. The infall of high-velocity clouds in the anticenter is injecting into the Galactic disk energies above 10 to the 53rd ergs and triggering the most energetic structural disturbance in the Galaxy, the anticenter supershell of H I. It is concluded that the accretion of neutral gas may be an important phenomenon for the energy budget in the outer Galaxy.
