The observed spectrum of the March 5, 1979 gamma-ray burst is fitted with a combination of thermal-synchrotron and pair-annihilation spectra; then, combined with some other observed data, it is found that the distance of the burst source cannot be greater than 2.2 kpc, so the source is not located in the SNR N49 of the LMC. The magnetic field of the source is in the range 150-1500 GG; the synchrotron radiation region has thickness 0.05-2.80 cm; and the two-photon annihilation region has thickness 80-240 cm.
