Precise optical positions of 20 radio stars have been determined in the FK4 system, mainly from plates taken with the 23 cm astrograph and 60 cm refractor of the Hamburg Observatory. These radio stars, for which precise radio positions have been obtained from VLA observations, will provide a suitable sample for a first provisional comparison of the optical-radio reference frames based entirely on galactic objects. Positions of 15 radio stars in the northern hemisphere have been referred to the AGK3RN catalog, whereas the positions of the remaining southern stars are based on the Perth 70 or FK4 catalogs as the primary reference frame.
