The surface brightness of the northern Milky Way (MW) is studied in the V system at Galactic latitudes of -20, -15, -10, 15, and 20 deg. Values for the mean brightness of the MW in the interval of Galactic longitudes from 30 deg to 150 deg are given. The V-R color index of the mean brightness of the MW over that interval is also shown. The results are in satisfactory agreement with those of Smith, Roach, and Owen (1970) at positive latitudes, while at negative latitudes the data of those authors are systematically greater than the data presented here. The latter also indicate that the mean brightness of the MW at galactic latitudes of 15 and 20 is higher than that at corresponding negative latitudes.
