High-resolution long-slit spectroscopy of the galactic H II region Sh2-156 in the red has revealed pronounced line splitting within the nebular core region. The observed radial velocity field indicates a rather thin nebular shell of about 24 - 30 arcsec extent around the exciting star, expanding at a rate of about 24 km s-1. The centroid velocity of the shell does not deviate significantly from the mean velocity derived for the nebular envelope surrounding the core, and equals the velocity of the associated molecular cloud. The authors discuss the constraints imposed by the observed kinematics on the basic geometry to be adopted in the "blister" or "champagne flow" models when applied to Sh2-156. The impact of stellar wind from the exciting star on the expanding nebula is briefly outlined as well.
